run away from westhost...quickly
I have not used Westhost for web hosting; I use them for email service. There are two key failings of Westhost for this service: 1) they have a spam ...
filter which cannot be bypassed - this spam filter catches and *throws out* perfectly legitimate emails. And never tells you when it does so. This includes, for example, emails from my local wine shop (where I am on their mailing list), and emails from United.com (yes, the airline) and emails from petsmart.com (the Very Big pet goodie store). Some of the emails it tosses are "respond to this email to sign up for our mailing list" emails. You kinda Really Need to receive those emails to get on a mailing list. But Westhost won't deliver them...not even into your Junk folder. 2) their technical support is beyond pathetic. They've hired folks who both don't know what they're doing (I have a slight idea about how things should work since I've been working with networks literally beginning with the ARPAnet in the mid-70s) and are beyond stupid in what they advise. For instance, when I had trouble receiving emails from united.com, I was told I should contact United and tell them to rejigger their emails so it wouldn't trigger their filter (I cannot make this stuff up). So. Just. Stay. Away. From Westhost. Your blood pressure will thank you.

NO Refunds
This has been, without exaggeration, one of the most infuriating, stressful, and financially damaging experiences I’ve ever had with any service**and ...
I’m stunned this company is still in business. They have a laughably rigid "no refunds after 45 days" policy, even if you're left with NINE MONTHS of unusable time on your account. Imagine paying for something long-term, only for the provider to completely fail on their endand then smugly deny you a refund. It's not just unethicalit's predatory. The server performance is absolutely abysmal. It feels like a ticking time bomb. Their servers go down every five damn minutes. I wish that were an exaggeration. You can’t run a business, host clients, or even keep a basic webpage online with this level of instability. And the worst part? They know it. They’ve been told. And they’ve done NOTHING. This isn’t just about downtime. This is about the destruction of trust, time, and business. Their constant outages directly led to the suspension of both my Google Ads and Google Merchant Center accounts. Do you have any idea what kind of hell it is trying to recover from that? The appeals, the explanations, the hours of writing emails and making calls just to prove that you didn’t do anything wrongit was your provider. I’ve lost revenue, credibility, and sleep over this. I’ve spent countless hours troubleshooting problems that weren’t mine to begin with fighting fires started by their failures. The psychological stress of watching your business crumble over something you can't control is unbearable. It’s anxiety. It’s helplessness. It’s rage. And above all, it's betrayal because I trusted them to deliver a basic, functional service. And what do you get when you raise these issues? Nothing. Silence. Or worse copy-pasted excuses from support agents who clearly don’t care and won’t lift a finger to help. If you value your business, your sanity, or even just basic decency, stay as far away from this company as possible. They’re not just unreliable they’re dangerous to your operations and reputation.
